social & mental well-being
Growing to become an adult and going to school is not just about math, reading and writing. It is also about learning about yourself and your relationship to and with others. In this section we will share some helpful ideas about growing to be a person who is mentally and socially healthy.
Advisor/Advisee
The Advisor/Advisee program provides students and teachers with the opportunity to build relationships beyond the demands of the academic program. Students are given a chance to explore issues that are important to them personally and to their development as an individual in society. In a school caringly and systematically supporting student social growth is as important as academic growth if students are going to become self-fulfilled productive members of society. In Advisor/Advisee we meet regularly meet as a group in a supportive environment to explore issues through discussion, role playing and problem solving. |
Bullying
As a student or member of staff you have the right to feel emotionally and physically safe, protected and secure, in your work environment. One of the most important jobs of any school is to make sure this happens. Bullying is one of the greatest factors in a school (or in any social organization), which disrupts and destroys the healthy development of individuals and their ability to be productive. Active examination of this topic by the school benefits students, staff and parents. As well as the school having a clear policy and regulations to address bullying we explore this topic during our sessions in Advisor/Advisee. Pages will be added to this site to further explore this important topic. |
