Ms. Skenny welcomes you!
Hi, my name is Skenny Darbouze I am entering my 22nd year as an educator having taught
in national educational systems as well as the International Baccalaureate. I
began my teaching career in Montreal, Canada where I taught French and science.
I then moved to Zurich, Switzerland where I taught science, mathematics and
Health and Social Education at both the primary and secondary school level in
International Baccalaureate schools. After Switzerland I continued teaching
those subjects at IB schools in New York City and Nassau, the Bahamas. In China
I have taught English as a Second Language in a Chinese secondary school as
well as science and mathematics. This year I will be teaching Science and Advisor/Advisee.
I love living "internationally" and learning about different cultures. I currently speak French, Creole, English and German with a passable competence in Spanish. I hope to soon add Mandarin to my list of languages. I have been living in China with my husband for the past seven years.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree at McGill University, Montreal and, a Master’s degree in both Psychology and Education at the University of Quebec.
I build my teaching around active student engagement in learning. My goal is to support the students in developing deeper understanding of the subjects, their lives and the ability to practically apply and enjoy what they are learning.
I will be teaching grades 7, 8, 9, and 10.
I look forward to working with you all! Please feel welcome to contact me to set up a meeting or just stop by for a chat.
